The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has called meetings of its general council and central working committee on October 02-03 for the election of new president, following disqualification of Nawaz Sharif from the office in the wake of the Supreme Court July 28 verdict in Panama Papers case.
The party's chairman of the election commission body, Chaudhry Jafar Iqbal, while issuing schedule of the election for the new party president, also called the meeting of the general council here at Convention Center on Monday [October 02] at 10:00am, while the meeting of the central working committee at Punjab House at 2:00pm on the same day, says a PML-N statement issued here on Friday.
The second meeting of the central working committee would be held on October 03 [Tuesday] at Convention Center to elect the new president of the party. All those interested candidates have been asked to submit their nomination papers on October 03 from 7:00am till 9:00am, while the final list of the candidate would be displayed at 10:00am and the elections will be held the same day. It was decided in a meeting chaired by Chaudhry Jafar Iqbal and attended by Najma Hameed, Afzal Mandokhel, Ali Afzal Jadoon, Babo Sarfaraz and others.
