Activities at Karachi & Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 223,223 tonnes of cargo comprising 177,087 tonnes of import cargo and 46,136 tonnes of export cargo including 12,455 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 177,087 tonnes comprised of 100,045 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,323 tonnes of general cargo; 31,530 tonnes of bulk cargo: 21,500 tonnes of coal; 10,030 tonnes of fertilizer and 44,189 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,136 tonnes comprised of 42,946 tonnes of containerised cargo and 3,190 tonnes of urea. As many as 12,455 containers comprising of 6,224 containers import and 6,231 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 2,858 of 20's and 1,678 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,206 of 20's and 1,349 of 40's loaded containers while 841 of 20's and 743 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Express Black Sea, Lilack Victoria, Torm Estrid and EM Sapphire carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were ten vessels viz. Kota Lahir, KMTC Dubai, Al Safat, UAFL Zanzibar, MT Quetta, Maersk Penguin, Sea Crystal, Maria Topic, Asia Emerald-III and Esperance Bay carrying containers, oil tankers, seeds, coal and talcum powder respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Kota Lahir, KMTC Dubai, Al Safat and Hyundai Splendor carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely Northern Priority, UAFL Zanzibar and Grand Dahlia carrying containers and vehicles respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were four vessels OOCL California, APL Norway, High Power and Grand Dahlia carrying containers, mogas and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while eight vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Kota Layar, CT Frontier, Maersk Tacoma, Chemroad Journey, STI Expedite, Med Nordic and Ras Ghumays-1 carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and phosphoric acid respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total export cargo of 20,900 tonnes includes 20,900 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,900 containers comprising of 800 containers import and 1,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were four ships namely CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Joanna, MT Epic Sardinia and MT Sovereign carrying containers, LPG and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Tuesday.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Joanna, MV Da Dan Xia, MV Sinar Kutal, MV Three Saskias, MT Epic Sardinia, MT Sovereign and MT Chemroad Haya currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as twelve ships namely CV Express Black Sea, MV W Pacific, MV Necosia Pegasus, MV As Olivia, MT Al Jassasiya, MT Black Pearl, MT Totonno Bottiglieri, MT Lion-M, MT Maistros, MT Mezaira, MT Margarita and MT Bahra carrying containers, soyabean seeds, rapeseeds, LNG, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV APL Charleston, CV Express Black Sea, CV Maersk Kensington, MV As Olivia, MT Al Jassasiya and MT Lion-M carrying containers, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were six ships namely CV APL Charleston, CV Hansa America, CV Mehuin, CV Maersk Kensington, MV Ilaf and MT Gaslog Greece carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
