AIPS Asia Congress 2017: Marriyum vows to revive sports and heritage

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the government is determined to accomplish challenging task of revival of sports, films and national heritage in the country. She was speaking at the 20th International Sports Press Association Asia's extraordinary congress here on Friday.
The minister said security situation has considerably improved in Pakistan as a result of an all-encompassing campaign launched by the government to eliminate the menace of terrorism. She said that unfortunately due to the burgeoning terrorism in the country during the last decades, the international teams have been hesitating to visit Pakistan.
"Pakistanis are a sports loving nation and our sportsmen have won laurels for the country in different disciplines of sports and even reigned the world in squash, hockey and cricket to name a few," Marriyum said. "The holding of the AIPS ASIA Congress-2017 immediately after the visit of the World Cricket XI indicates and reinforces Pakistan's image as a peaceful and sports loving country," she said.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that it should be a matter of great pleasure for all in Pakistan that due to the visionary steps initiated by the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, the scourge of terrorism has been checked and security situation as well as law and order in the country has improved considerably, paving the way for the return of international sports to Pakistan.
