KU Professor Mutahir Ahmed laid to rest

Professor Dr Shaikh Mutahir Ahmed was laid to rest at the Karachi University's graveyard, here on Friday. He died of cancer, a day earlier. He was 54. Dr Mutahir Ahmed's funeral prayers were offered at the Jamia Masjid Ibrahim at the university. A large number of teachers and students including the Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajmal Khan, former Vice Chancellors Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser and Professor Dr Zafar Saeed Saifi, MPA People's Party Saeed Ghani, Senator Nehal Hashmi, Professor Dr Akhtar Baloch, President KUTS Dr Shakeel Farooqui and President Arts Council Ahmed Shah attended the funeral.
Dr. Mutahir served as the chairman of the Department of International Relations at the University of Karachi and president of Karachi University Teachers' Society (KUTS). Currently, he was serving as Secretary Affiliation Committee at the University. He joined KU in 1995 as a lecturer and in 2005 he was appointed as a Professor.
Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Professor Mutahir. "Dr Mutahir Ahmed was a great teacher of a high character and had moral values. He was a brave person and fought with cancer till his demise with great courage," Dr. Ajmal said.
Professor Dr Muhammad Ahmed Qadri, the dean of the faculty of Social Sciences at the KU also offered condolences over the sad demise of Dr Mutahir Ahmed and termed him as one of the most favourite teachers of the faculty of social sciences.
