0.2 million children enrolled in Fata schools in six months

Over 200,000 children have been enrolled in various schools of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) from April to October this year under the education emergency program of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra. A spokesman for FATA Secretariat Abdul Salam Wazir said here Friday that a special enrollment campaign was run for attracting the children towards education in FATA that yielded positive results.
He said that all the educational institutes in FATA were provided quality education to the children, adding that under the public-private partnership reputed school chains like Beacon House, Peshawar Model Schools, Army Public School, Edward College and School and private universities were opening their branches in the tribal areas.
Separate schools have been established for the children of IDPs as alternate learning schools under the directives of the Governor KP so that the children could continue their studies without any interruption. The spokesman denied a media report appeared in a section of press that majority of the schools in tribal areas were non functional.
