Illegal plots' transfer: NAB Lahore arrests two LDA officials

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has arrested Lahore Development Authority (LDA)'s senior accountant, Khalid Iqbal and co-accused Muhammad Abbas Ali, who is former Assistant in LDA for their involvement in a scam of illegal exemptions of plots in Mustafa Town, Lahore worth millions of rupees. Both the accused were charged with of misusing their authority by facilitating illegal transfer of plots in the name of people who were neither eligible nor entitled in any way for the exempted plots to receive.
Both the accused also obtained illegal pecuniary advantages through such ill practices, a spokesman of NAB said. By doing so, the accused persons caused a loss amounting to millions of rupees to national kitty, he added. It is pertinent to mention here that NAB Lahore has already arrested three other LDA officials in the same case.
NAB Lahore has acquired the physical remand of 10 days after producing both the accused before an accountability court, as involvement of other officials is expected to be disclosed during the course of further investigation. Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Shahzad Saleem has taken serious notice of all corruption cases under investigation in NAB Lahore region and has issued clear instructions of zero tolerance against corruption and corrupt practices.
