President of PPP Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari has said the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has indulged in open confrontation with institutions. In an interview with Asma Shirazi, an anchorperson and the host of Aaj News political talk show Faisala Aap Ka on Monday, Zardari said that Nawaz had sent many messages to him ever since he began facing minor problems but he gave no response.
He said that JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman also met him (to mediate between the two) but he told the maulana that Nawaz always stabbed him in the back. He said he had asked Fazl to become a guarantor, but Fazal refused to commit anything on behalf of Nawaz.
Zardari also said that there were many ways to derail the system and Nawaz wanted anarchy in the country and a confrontation. He said that it is government's job to defend and not to blame army. He said that Nawaz wanted to bring his man as Senate Chairman in March 2018 hence he was prolonging the controversy. He said Nawaz had assigned the IB against his own PML-N's members. He said no politician could be weakened through imprisonment.
"Pakistan People's Party will challenge the constitutional amendment that paved way for election of a disqualified person to lead his party," he said, adding that in a democratic system, a disqualified person cannot be the president of any political party. He said that now Nawaz wanted to portray himself as the heir of PPP's founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto instead of military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq's.
To a question, he criticised PTI chairman Imran Khan, saying that he is not fit to rule the country because there is a huge difference between public shows and governance. He said there could be talks with Jehangir Tareen but not with his party chief. He said: "Nothing can be attained by blame game. Pervez Musharraf needs to provide proofs of the charges he framed. Who had promoted (police officer) Saud Aziz to Grade 21 two days ago?"
