Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq has said that if the government remained indifferent to India's increasing water aggression, Pakistan would soon become a desert. According to media cell of JI Lahore, while talking to the media in Peshawar on Wednesday, he said that the construction of the Kishan Ganga dam and stealing of Pakistan's share of river water by India in violation of the Indus Water treaty had caused acute shortage of water in the country.
The JI chief said that the government had done nothing to overcome the water crisis or to get its share of river water from India due to which the Punjab was turning into desert. He said that the country's economy and agriculture mainly depended on the water of river Indus and if the supply of water in the river was reduced, the people living on the both sides of the river would face great difficulties.
