Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 192,649 tonnes of cargo comprising 147,699 tonnes of import cargo and 44,950 tonnes of export cargo including 6,433 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 147,699 tonnes comprised of 42,015 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,916 tonnes of general cargo; 41,268 tonnes of bulk cargo: 22,962 tonnes of coal; 6,055 tonnes of seeds; 2,459 tonnes of fertilizer; 6,820 tonnes of rock phosphate; 2,972 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 60,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,950 tonnes comprised of 34,833 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,957 tonnes of urea and 5,160 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,433 containers comprising of 2,918 containers import and 3,515 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,216 of 20's and 847 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 03 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 947 of 20's and 477 of 40's loaded containers while 728 of 20's and 443 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Sima Genesis, Kota Kasturi, MSC Kerry and Wide India carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Sima Genesis, Kota Kasturi, MSC Kerry, MT Shalamar, Bow Mekka, Seastar Empress and Asian Champion carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and coal respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely YM Orchid, Pan Rapido and Heilan Aroma carrying containers, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Zemgale, MT Shalamar and Ras Ghumays-1 carrying oil tankers and rock phosphate respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were five vessels MOL Emerald, Al Farahidi, Yuhua Star, Bulk Polaris and Triton Seahawk carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and DAP respectively due to arrive on Thursday while seven vessels viz. KEA, APL Hawaii, MT Quetta, Chemroad Polaris, Polar Unicorn, Positive Star and Glovis Sonic carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 103,226 tonnes includes 46,494 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,000 tonnes of chemical; 8,786 tonnes of canola seeds; 5,959 tonnes of coal; 1,743 tonnes of roro; 550 tonnes of project cargo and 34,694 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,493 tonnes includes 46,493 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,273 containers comprising of 1,826 containers import and 2,447 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There was one ship namely MV Alliance Fairfax carrying vehicle sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC Algeciras carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV Maersk Denver, CV MSC Mars, CV MSC Algeciras, MV Alliance Fairfax, MV Necosia Pegasus, MV Sinar Kutal, MV YM Miranda, MT Epic Sardinia and MT Lahore currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, vehicle, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus, MV W Pacific, MV YM Miranda, MV GSW Fighter, MV Dracon Ocean, MV Yasailhan, MT Sea Speed, MT Black Pearl, MT Totonno Bottiglieri, MT Brizo, MT Mezaira, MT Margarita, MT Bahra and MT Horizon carrying containers, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Indus, MT Sea Speed and MT Horizon carrying containers, LPG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were five ships namely CV APL Hawaii, MV Bulk Polaris, MV Ocean Prefect, MV Warisa Naree and MT Gaslog Greece carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are four ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV CMA CGM Tempanos, CV Prosper and MT Lion-M carrying containers and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
