It must be a matter of great relief for everyone that Pakistan and the United States have agreed to continue bilateral engagements at all levels. The two countries have arrived at this decision at a delegation-level talks between Pakistan and the US held at the Foreign Office. The two sides are said to have reviewed the state of play in the relationship in the wake of the US Strategy on Afghanistan and South Asia and agreed to continue discussions on all matters of mutual interest. Reiterating Pakistan's stance for a politically negotiated settlement owned and led by the Afghans, the foreign secretary has been quoted as reaffirming Pakistan's constructive participation in all regional and bilateral mechanisms aimed at pursuing a peaceful solution to the Afghan conflict.
