Sindh Public Procurement and Regulatory Authority has organized two-day capacity building training workshop on Sindh Public Procurement Act 2009 and Sindh Public Procurement Rules 2010 held at Darbar Hall, Deputy Commissioner Office Thatta.
The training workshop on public procurement rules began on 12th October 2017 and successfully ended on Friday the 13th October. The two-day capacity building training workshop was attended by officers of District Administration, Health, Irrigation, Works and Services, Agriculture, Industries, Education Works, University of Sindh Thatta Campus, Municipal Committee Thatta, Planning and Development, Local Government, Information and officers of other relevant departments. During 2-days capacity building workshop trainers conducted 06 sessions on Sindh Public Procurement Act 2009 and Sindh Public Procurement Rules 2010 and trained the participants in detail.
The Chief Guest of the final day's training workshop was former Provincial Minister Sadiq Ali Memon and the Director Sindh Public Procurement Authority, Jawed Sibghatullah Mehar, Deputy Director Muhammad Ayub Ali Khan and Deputy Director Ali Imran Qadri were also present on the occasion. The course of capacity building workshop covered the wide range of material in two days that included the introduction of Sindh Public Procurement Act 2009 and SPP Rules 2010, importance and objectives of the training, definitions of basic terminology used in public procurement, principles of procurement, procurement processes, bidding documents, prequalification of contractors, complaint redressal mechanism and procurement of consultancy services with actual case studies and a panel discussion through interactive sessions.
The Pre-test and Post-test assessment activities also conducted from participants during the training workshop and participants remained interested on different topics throughout the workshop. While addressing the participants, Director Sindh Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Jawed Sibghatullah Mehar said that two-day capacity building training workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of the government officers and Procurement agencies on public procurement entities and to aware them about the Public Procurement Act 20009 & public procurement rules 2010. He said SPPRA rules can be of great benefit for procuring agencies, middle and higher management of Audit, Procurement, Accounts, Contract, Administration and Human Resources departments to avoid mis-procurement and work more efficiently and transparently.
