Khattak directs FWO to clear liabilities, expedite pace of work

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for clearing the liabilities of the provincial government and acceleration of work on both sides of the Swat Motorway to complete it within the specified timeframe.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting on roads communication network. The projects discussed were Swat Motorway, establishment of oil refinery, Peshawar and Rashakai Smart Cities, hydropower projects in Chitral & Naran and laying down transmission line and production of electricity from 100 mmcf gas at Khittar, Rashakai.
Provincial Ministers Akbar Ayub, Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Dr. Amjad, Malik Qasim, Gul Sahib Khan MPAs, administrative secretaries and representatives of FWO attended the meeting. The Chief Minister directed the concerned quarters to ensure land acquisition for different developmental schemes including roads, cement factory, Housing schemes, oil refinery, and Hydro power projects and take measures required for the smooth implementation of these projects.
He directed the concerned quarters to resolve these problems within a week as the provincial government would not allow any irritant in facilitating investors and setting up of industrial units throughout the province. He asked the FWO to expedite the survey and take all other steps to formally inaugurate the cement plant, the Oil Refinery Rashakai and Peshawar Smart Cities and the Hydro Power Projects as per agreed formula.
The Chief Minister assured all-out facilitation to the FWO, but within the frame work of agreements and laws. Regarding the Hydro Power Projects in Chitral and Naran, the Chief Minister asked the FWO to plan the transmission line right from the project side to Chakdara.
The provincial government has already initiated a number of Hydro Power Projects in the Province that would produce more than five thousand mega watt of electricity and after completion these projects the generated electricity would be added to the national grid. He directed the concerned quarters to prepare a transmission policy for connecting the Hydro Power Project sides to the main transmission line.
Regarding the utilization of gas for the production of electricity in Hattar, Rashakai and D.I .Khan Economic Zone in the wake of CPEC, the Chief Minister said that the 100 mmcf was won from the Federal Government as the share of the province. He said that the province produces gas more than its demand and for the utilization of the surplus gas, the provincial government had signed agreement with Chinese companies. He directed to monitor the speed and process of the work on these projects.
He assured FWO, his government could facilitate its offer of investment in such projects in the Province. Pervez Khattak directed the quarters concerned to accelerate the process of land acquisition and remove the obstacles hindering the speed of implementation on these projects. He directed them to sit together, review the challenges and find out a legally acceptable course to follow. He also directed to look into the replacement of proposed linking road to the Peshawar Smart City with another suitable road he added.
The Chief Minister directed FWO to complete the Swat Motorway before the end of March as agreed. The representative of FWO informed that another heavy drilling machine had started work and hopefully the progress and pace of work would double and it would be completed under given timeline.
