Punjab government allocates Rs 190 million for 51 educational projects

Punjab government has earmarked Rs 190 million for the completion of 51 projects under Education Development package 2017-18 identified by the District Education Authority in District Sialkot. Under the programme, facilities like IT labs, reconstruction of dangerous buildings and missing facilities in educational institutes of district would be ensured. This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner/ Administrator District Education Authority Dr Farrukh Naveed here on Tuesday in a meeting.
He said District Development committee (DDC) has approved establishment of IT Labs in 9 boys' and girls' high schools, 15 boys' and girls' elementary schools would also get IT labs at a cost Rs 25 million.
He said education officers have been directed to initiate process of tendering without further delay. Deputy Commissioner further told that buildings of 24 schools in the district have been declared dangerous by the concerned department in last few years and government has allocated Rs 118 million in development budget of 2017-18 for reconstruction of buildings of these schools. He said approval has been granted by the DDC while education department has been directed not to use these buildings/blocks for education purpose.
