Dual, triple and even quad-lens cameras will soon become old news as a new phone with 16 lenses might be available in near future.
Newly filed patents by smartphone manufacturer LG, spotted by LetsGoDigital, described a phone with a main camera consisting of 16 lenses in future. These 16 lenses feature different focal lengths and traits and can capture pictures from various different angles, providing various different perspectives.
With only a single tap, all of the 16 lenses will take a shot simultaneously in different viewpoints like close up, landscape, longer focal length etc. It will also allow capturing of moving 3D images, and also enable to replace objects in photos because of the additional data captured with each shot.
After in-display fingerprint sensors, in-display front cameras might be next
The patent also describes a mirror and flash that could be placed separately on the phone’s back that will feature the 16 lens camera, illuminating subjects. The front camera, on the other hand, will be the same old single lens. However, one change will be that LG will allow users to take 16 selfies simultaneously at the time via the rear camera, with the help of the mirror.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the only patent filed by LG. The electronic company also hinted at a foldable phone, as spotted by LetsGoDigital. The patent describes three brand names Flex, Foldi, and Duplex, which might be LG’s foldable phones.
