Zardari demands arrest of Nawaz

21 Oct, 2017

Asif Ali Zardari, co-Chairperson of Pakistan People's Party and former President of Pakistan, has lodged a strong protest on granting to Nawaz Sharif and members of his family a "VIP-accountability". "The "godfather" is sending secret messages for reconciliation from London. We have rejected all these messages because we can not make the same mistake twice'" he said.
He demanded that they should be given the same treatment which was accorded to him in the past, and they should be immediately arrested because they face cases of serious financial corruption. In a statement issued yesterday, he said PPP was made to face Saif-ur-Rehman's accountability. "Today, when they criticise NAB they should also recall what 'their NAB' use to do to us. But, today we see that they are being granted a VIP protocol for all their appearances before the accountability courts. Until and unless all accountability is not done on an equal footing, the result of such accountability would be unacceptable," he said.
He complained that if a Sharif family member asks for a bail he gets it within a day. But when the same bail is requested by one of our party-members, it takes more than two years for them to get it. The former President reminded how he was made to face the accountability process in the past. He said that he faced proceedings in different forts across the country. He also demanded that Nawaz Sharif also be made to go through a similar experience in at least one of the cases which he presently faces.
"They used to arrest and put us in a jail first and look for a "case" afterwards. But, cases against Nawaz Sharif and family are although registered on orders of the Supreme Court of the country; they are being allowed to roam around with impunity." Asif Ali Zardari demanded that Nawaz Sharif should be immediately arrested.
