A Mufti's woes

21 Oct, 2017

Police managed to nab Mufti Abdul Qavi from the Punjab Highway after he fled from the court premises when his arrest orders were issued in the Qandeel Baloch murder case. According to Multan Cantt SP, Dr Fahad, police, with the aid of highway authorities, nabbed Qavi while he was travelling to Jhang. Earlier, a sessions court hearing the model and social media icon's murder case had dismissed the cleric's bail request and ordered police to arrest him for failing to cooperate with the prosecution.
When the court reserved the verdict in the case and after resuming the hearing, dismissed Qavi's bail application and ordered the police to arrest him, he with the help of some lawyers fled the premises.
Suspended by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for his selfies with the late model, Mufti Qavi was also removed from Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. At present, he's undergoing treatment in police custody at a cardiovascular hospital. He was rushed to that Multan hospital hours after his arrest. The question is why the Mufti is acting so irresponsibly. Doesn't he know that all are equal before the law. Why he had tried to escape after a sessions court rejected his bail plea. He must face the court in accordance with his pledge that he would extend fullest cooperation to investigators and the court. He must now prove that his conduct is guided by deep ethics.
