Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would challenge Election Commission of Pakistan's decision to dismiss Imran Khan's reference and retain National Assembly membership of Ayesha Gulalai. PTI Secretary Information Fawad Chaudhry said this while addressing media persons outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday.
He said that the party will challenge the Election Commission of Pakistan's decision to reject its reference seeking to de-notify dissident Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Gulalai. He said that the party would take the issue to its logical end. "We will follow the matter to the end, as her actions damaged the struggle of other women," he said.
He further said, "We will not allow Ayesha Gulalai to sit in the National Assembly. She has already announced to leave the party in front of the media." Another PTI leader Shafqat Mahmood said that the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan to dismiss the reference against Gulalai has ended constitutional discipline. It is against the spirit of the party constitution and country's constitution as well, he said.
He said that to let Gulalai remain a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from the party is a decision against the spirit of the party constitution. He said whatever Gulalai said in her statements was an indicator of her leaving the party. PTI leader Jahangir Tareen also expressed his disapproval over the ECP decision on social media.
