Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed to conduct an inquiry into the newly-constructed building of emergency block of Government Mozang Hospital Lahore. During a surprise visit to the hospital on Thursday, Salman visited laboratory, gyne ward, medicine store, immunization centre and OPD.
He directed that an IT system with the assistance of PITB should be evolved for preparing database of the children/infants and in case children do not visit for next doze on the fixed date the system would point out the missing children. This system would be introduced in all the hospitals for ensuring complete immunization of the children, he added.
He disclosed that by taking new initiatives and introducing IT solutions, the immunization coverage has been raised from 50 to 90 percent in Punjab. He added that Punjab is the only province which has introduced rota virus vaccine to prevent the children from diarrhea which is a major cause of infant mortality.
