AMTF chief urges people to donate blood

Executive Director of Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation (AMTF), Ateeq Ur Rehman has urged general public to donate blood generally to save life of Thalassemia patients. Speaking at blood donation camp held in collaboration with community welfare society at IBA main campus, he highlighted the lack of awareness in Pakistan about a dreadful genetic blood disorder Thalassemia and called upon the need for pre-marriage blood screening test.
He also requested to the students to come forward and support AMTF'S team by donating blood for this noble cause in order to mitigate the sufferings of the patients and their distressed families. He appealed to people of Karachi, corporate bodies, universities and academic Institution to fulfill rising needs of fresh blood for which we are always on the search of new venues. For our Thalassemia patients we need 550 to 600 pints of blood every month to be transfused to Thalassemic children for saving their lives. This is an ongoing and non-stop process.
The Blood Donation Drive was attend by Dr Najum Akber Anjum (Adjunct Faculty -CED, IBA), Wing Commander Aamer Shabbir (retd), General Manager, Administration-IBA) and Mazhar Qasim.
