Doctors must not forget their oath while planning strike: Rajwana

Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana has said that raising voice for the solution of problems is a right of doctors however they should not forget their oath while going on strike because if any life lost during their strike in the hospitals they would be answerable here and hereafter. The Governor further said that we all have to obey our oath. He said that introducing "Sahat Khidmat Award" for the in recognition of the services of health professionals and junior staff would be helpful to resolve the issues and the staff would be encouraged to perform their duties with more dedication.
He expressed these views while addressing the 2nd Sahat Khidmat Award distribution ceremony at a local hotel, here today. The ceremony was organized by the Punjab Health Facility Management Company, Primary & Secondary Health Department to acknowledge the extra ordinary performance of the staff. On this occasion Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique, Minister Primary & Secondary Health, Kh. Imran Nazir, Secretary Health, Ali Jan Khan, Lord Mayor Col. Mubashar Javaid (r), Special Secretary Health Dr Faisal Zahoor, CEO PHFMC Muhammad Ali Amir, Additional Secretary Development Fatima Sheikh, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Asim Altaf, Additional Secretary Drug Control Muhammad Sohail, CEO Health Lahore Dr Yaddullah and other officers and the staff of the department attended the function.
While addressing the occasion, Minister Specialized Healthcare Kh. Salman Rafique said that during the last few years Punjab's Health Sector witnessed significant development and historical reforms have been introduced in the Health Sector. However, long journey is still to see in this regard. Kh. Salman Rafiq said that a number of new hospitals, specialized health institutions have been constructed in Punjab, moreover, extension in the existing hospitals and revamping of health facility is in progress. The Minister said that due to new initiatives, routine immunization coverage has reached from 50 to 88 percent during the last two years.
Minister Primary & Secondary Health, Kh. Imran Nazir said that we did the pending work of 70 years and presently Punjab Health Sector is catering 120 million people's health requirements besides providing health facilities to the patients of other provinces.
