31 Oct, 2017

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has submitted a calling attention notice in the National Assembly Secretariat regarding federal government's decision to shut Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operations to the US from January 1, 2018. The PPP also submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat with respect to attack on journalist Ahmad Noorani by unknown persons.
According to the calling attention notice, "We the undersigned would like to draw the attention of the minister in-charge for Aviation Division towards the uninspiring decision of the federal government to completely shut PIA's flight operations to USA from January 2018 causing grave concern among public.
"This intended move of the federal government will directly hit more than half a million of Pakistanis living in the US and a large number of Pakistani visitors to the US as they will no more be able to travel directly between the two countries via PIA flights. The claims made by the federal government over the last four years to revive PIA and make it a profitable entity have proved mere rhetoric as its losses have increased manifolds during this period and operation capacity has reached new laws."
The calling attention notice further described that it as a serious matter which warrants a response from the minister on the floor of the House immediately. According to the adjournment motion, "The brutal attack on journalist Ahmad Noorani by unknown assailants is shocking and disturbing. The attacks on journalists are totally unacceptable and need to be addressed immediately.
