PTI MPA demands probe into corruption scandal of 56 companies

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Arif Abbasi on Monday demanded that the government should constitute a committee under the chair of leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly to probe the corruption scandal worth Rs 80 billion in 56 companies of Punjab. He was expressing his views on point of order in Punjab Assembly. The session started one hour 50 minutes late under the Chair of speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal.
He said the committee should comprise of members from both treasury and opposition benches. He made this demand in the wake of a petition filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against this corruption scandal.
The Punjab Assembly also passed a unanimous resolution against attack on senior journalist Ahmad Noorani and other journalists by unknown persons. The resolution was presented by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan. The House termed the attack on journalists as an attack on freedom of press. Meanwhile, the Finance Minister could not start discussion on yearly report on pension fund due to the quorum pointed out by Ahsan Riaz Fatiana. The Speaker prorogued the assembly for an indefinite period.
