The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date for filing of income tax returns at least till December 31 as there is a huge decline in the number of filers. LCCI President Malik Tahir Javaid in a statement on Tuesday said that due to problems in the FBR's IRIS system, a large number of businessmen could not file their returns within the given time frame.
The extension in the date for the filing of income tax returns will help government to achieve its revenue target besides trust building of the private sector, he said.
