Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (Headquarters) Punjab, Salik Jalal has refused to work under the newly-appointed IG (Prisons) Punjab Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig. Well-informed sources told Business Recorder that DIG Salik has also written a letter to the Punjab Home Department, demanding to post him somewhere else as the newly-appointed IG Prisons is junior to him. They said DIG Salik had joined services almost two years before the joining of IG Mirza Shahid.
When contacted, DIG Salik acknowledged the development, saying that it is unfair to appoint an IG (Prisons) who is junior to other officers serving in the department. He told that he has taken up this matter with the Secretary Home Department who has assured DIG Salik that he would soon be posted to any other post of Grade-20.
