Drive to remove illegal speed breakers launched in KP

On the directives of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Azam Khan, the Communication & Works (C&W) Department has initiated drive to remove illegal speed breakers from roads throughout the Province. The Chief Secretary was, through Performance Monitoring and Reforms Unit (PMRU), continuously receiving public complaints about the speed breakers wherein the people had appealed the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary that in different localities, villages and roads the speed breakers have made their lives burdensome, causing lot of troubles to passengers specially patients and old age people as well as causing number of traffic accidents.
The Chief Secretary directed the C&W Department to remove speed breakers from different cities and roads in first phase. In response to the directives, the Secretary C&W Department has directed all divisions to remove forthwith illegal speed breakers from all roads at provincial and district level and submit its final report to him till November 4th.
Action on these directives has been initiated immediately and all small and big speed breakers are being removed with the help of heavy machinery. The local community has also been warned to refrain from erecting such unjustified speed breakers on roads in future so as not to interrupt fluent flow of traffic and to save passengers from inconvenience.
