14 Nov, 2017

Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed higher Friday on short-covering and spillover strength as corn futures stayed above contract lows set a day earlier, traders said. CBOT December wheat settled up 2-1/2 cents at $4.31-1/2 per bushel. For the week, the contract rose 5-3/4 cents or 1.4 percent, its biggest weekly climb since mid-September.
K.C. December hard red winter wheat ended up 4-1/4 cents at $4.33-1/4 a bushel while MGEX December spring wheat fell 1/2 cent at $6.47-1/2. Market underpinned by Thursday's lower-than-expected forecast of US 2017/18 wheat ending stocks from the US Department of Agriculture. French soft wheat sowing was 90 percent complete by Monday, compared with 79 percent a week earlier and 88 percent a year ago, farm office FranceAgriMer's weekly data showed.
