Collector Customs, Peshawar Gul Rehman Marwat has assured the continuation of the process of Customs clearance at Peshawar Airport for six days a week after inclusion of Saturday and directed no delay in the renewal of the Customs licenses and keeping of Shaheen Cargo at Peshawar Airport will remain open till 6 pm. He gave this assurance while talking to a 12-member delegation of clearing agents, which called him here at Model Customs Collectorate here the other day. President, Frontier Customs Agents Group (FCAG), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi led the delegation.
Those present on the occasion were included Additional Collector Customs, Faiz Ali, Deputy Collector Customs Headquarters, Zakir Mohammad, Khalid Shehzad, Imtiaz Ahmad Ali, Faiz Mohammad Faizi and others. The Collector Customs said that so far an amount of Rs 80 million have been paid in head of the payment of Customs rebate while the remaining rebate amounting to Rs 120 million would also be paid soon.
During the meeting, the delegation of the Frontier Customs Group and Collector Customs agreed on bringing improvement in import/export process at Peshawar Dry Port, airport and Torkham Customs Stations and resolution of the problems of Customs clearing and forwarding agents. Briefing the Collector Customs, President FCAG, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi informed about harassment of Customs agents and reservations over the affects of it on the process of exports and called for the removal of the hurdles through mutual consultations.
Sarhadi also highlighted matters relating to lack of facilities at Customs stations, operationalizing of Azakhel Dry Port, provision of facilities at Peshawar Dry Port and allowing of private trucks for transportation of export bound goods to Karachi and clearing of all items through clearing agents, FBR insist for presentation of additional and irrelevant documents, increase in the duty timing of the National Bank branches at Peshawar Dry Port and Airport, resolution of the issue of reconditioned vehicles parked at Peshawar Dry Port and installation of scan machine at Torkham border and Peshawar Dry Port.
The Collector Customs fully agreed with the problems and difficulties presented by the delegation and assured that problems faced by the Customs agents, import/export would be resolved on priority basis and the clearance process will be completed in effective manner.
