The Businessmen Panel (BMP) has nominated Senator Ghulam Ali as its candidate for office of the President in FPCCI 2018 election, while Nasir Hayat Magoon former President KCCI has been nominated for the office of the Senior Vice President. This announcement was made by BMP Chairman Mian Anjum Nisar in a large gathering of the business community. Chairman BMP said this year our group slogan is "Let's revive FPCCI" so that role of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industries may act accordingly as per will and wishes of the trade bodies
He blamed the incumbent FPCCI body for doing nothing though the business community was facing challenges due to recent imposition of Regulatory Duty on numbers of items. Our dwindling exports position was also a big challenge for us but again FPCCI didn't refer a single recommendation report to the government on that important matter. He opined that during the last three years the leadership of the ruling UBG played a very negative role for the business community, they didn't plead the case properly, didn't invest a single penny on associations and chambers which was unfortunate. FPCCI didn't even revive its R&D department according to the standards of the FPCCI and other international apex trade bodies.
Nisar said the CPEC is a do and die for Pakistan economic prosperity what we want is that government allows us the same facilities in the corridor. The government should put in place a framework to ensure 100pc utilisation of local industry. If we want to benefit from the corridor initiative we have to give our companies their due share in the projects"; he added.
Presidential Candidate of BMP, Senator Ghulam Ali said, "I will place my services for the welfare of the business community and my previous tenure were clear and ideal for the businesses". I took up their issues with full force and strength but today FPCCI sitting President has failed to do that because he is facing NAB references, so on what ground he can plead your case in front of the government.
I urge the Chambers of Commerce and Associations across the country to think realistically and decide your vote on merit , he added. He said we must follow international standards of facilitating investors; as Pakistan's geo-strategic location, availability of skilled manpower, provision of raw material is a destination of choice for foreign investment.
"Senator Ghulam Ali viewed that investment policies might have been designed accordingly which suited investors' needs in view of strategic position and a market place teeming with possibilities. The Spokesperson for BMP Ahmad Jawad told the media that the leadership of BMP had also announced candidates for other seats including Yahaha Polani and Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi Sartaj Ahmed Khan and Mrs Nazli Nisar. Similarly, the candidates for Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan chambers class including candidate from small chamber and two other candidates from Association class will be announced in a few days, said Jawad.
