Funeral prayer of martyred Major Ishaq was offered here at the Ayub Stadium in the Cantonment area on Thursday. Punjab CM Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Corps Commander of Lahore, Lieutenant General Amir Riaz, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, senior military and civil officials and other personalities attended the funeral prayer. A large number of people belonging to different segments of society also participated in the funeral prayer.
Later, he was laid to rest with full military honours at the Shauda Qabristan at Cavalry Ground. It may be noted that Major Ishaq embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire during a search operation at a terrorist hideout in Kulachi, DI Khan on Wednesday.
Major Ishaq's mother briefly spoke with reporters, saying Ishaq was the youngest of her three sons. "He will come to me, I am sure. I have faith in Allah." With tears in her eyes, she added: "He is a very good son, a Hafiz-e-Quran and he was granted Shahadat (martyrdom) by Allah."
Expressing condolence to the heirs of Shaheed Ishaq, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif offered 'fateha' for the martyred Major Ishaq. He paid rich tributes to the great sacrifice of martyred Major Ishaq and said that the persons sacrificing their precious lives for the defence of the country are the heroes of the nation and the Pakistani nation is proud of great sacrifices of its brave sons.
Shahbaz said that Major Ishaq has given his blood for the motherland and peace has been restored due to the great sacrifices of great sons of the nation like Major Ishaq. He added that the sacrifices of brave sons of the nation will bear fruit and the Pakistani nation shall never forget the immortal sacrifice of Major Ishaq.
