The guarantor of former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday submitted his reply in the Accountability Court requesting that Dar's surety bond might not be forfeited. The Accountability Court on November 21 declared Dar an absconder for not appearing before the court and ordered to initiate a process to declare him a proclaimed offender. The court declared him an absconder in connection with a reference for possessing assets beyond known sources of income filed against him by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
On the same date the court also issued a notice to Dar's guarantor Ahmad Ali Qudoosi and directed him to submit a written response on November 24. The court then adjourned the hearing of the case till December 4. Qudoosi prayed the court that Dar is undergoing treatment in London due to which he did not appear before the court. He requested the court to provide Dar three more weeks to appear before the court as well as his surety bonds of Rs 5 million might not be forfeited. The court asked the NAB for arguments on the matter on the next hearing to be held on November 29.
