Notice issued in petition against Nawaz for using official protocol

25 Nov, 2017

The Lahore High Court on Friday issued notices to the federal and provincial governments for December 21 in a petition of a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Andleeb Abbas against Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for using official protocol. The petitioner's counsel, Ijaz Malik, argued that Nawaz Sharif despite his disqualification has been using Punjab House and 40 vehicles in addition to protocol in sheer violation of the law. He said the Supreme Court had disqualified Nawaz Sharif on corruption charges therefore he could not use state protocol.
The lawyer also claimed that a hefty amount of Rs 2.18 million had been spent from public exchequer on protocol provided to Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam. He therefore prayed the court to direct the concerned authorities to withdraw the official protocol of disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam.
