LHCBA demands resignation of Interior Minister

28 Nov, 2017

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Monday demanded of the government to punish the persons responsible for changing the affidavit regarding finality of prophethood of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). The Bar demanded resignation of Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal over his failure to maintain law and order situation in the country and asked the government to take action against all those who carried out operation against peaceful protestors of Faizabad. The Bar also demanded release of all those who were taken into custody during sit-in days.
Addressing a general house meeting, the LHCBA office-bearers said that Khatam-e-Nabuwat of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) is the matter of every Muslim. They said a number of people lost their lives due to poor planning of the authorities. They held the minister responsible over deaths of citizens. They also said that the government should compensate the victim families whose loved ones died or fell injured during operation against the peaceful protestors. In lower courts, the attendance of lawyers remained thin as they boycotted courts' proceedings to condemn the operation against protestors of Faizabad.
