Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 209,420 tonnes of cargo comprising 154,442 tonnes of import cargo and 54,978 tonnes of export cargo including 3,109 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 154,442 tonnes comprised of 79,001 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,246 tonnes of general cargo; 34,105 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,930 tonnes of rock phosphate; 27,175 tonnes of fertilizer and 35,090 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 54,978 tonnes comprised of 37,433 tonnes of containerised cargo; 105 tonnes of general cargo and 17,440 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,109 containers comprising of 1,324 containers import and 1,785 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 486 of 20's and 252 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 167 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 427 of 20's and 170 of 40's loaded containers while 76 of 20's and 471 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were twelve ships namely CMA CGM Virginia, CMA CGM Narmada, Sabya, APL Noeway, CPO Malaysia, Prosper, MT Shalamar, Stolt Calluna, MT Karachi, Nave Cassiopeia, Rainbow Island-88 and Rising Falcon carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and rock phosphate respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were twelve vessels viz. Maribor, Gdynia Trader, Express Black Sea, Prosper, CMA CGM Virginia, CMA CGM Narmada, Nave Cassiopeia, Rainbow Island-88, Azalea Galaxy, Chemroad Echo, Jia Run and Hong Master carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Express Black Sea, Zente and Victoria Harbour carrying containers and DAP respectively sailed out to sea on Monday.
There were six vessels Ningbo Express, Piraeus, Northern Dependant, MT Lahore, Glory Trader and Eternal Diligence carrying containers, oil tankers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Monday, while two vessels viz. OOCL America and Sunray carrying containers and mogas respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 204,126 tonnes comprising 167,171 tonnes of import cargo and 36,955 tonnes of export cargo including 3,484 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 167,171 tonnes includes 35,166 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,414 tonnes of palm oil; 40,000 tonnes of LNG; 7,624 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 7,726 tonnes of chemical; 40,000 tonnes of coal and 29,241 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,955 tonnes includes 36,955 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,484 containers comprising of 1,539 containers import and 1,945 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were three ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV CMA CGM Narmada and MT Al Jassasiya carrying containers and LNG sailed out to sea on Monday.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV Safmarine Ngami, CV CMA CGM Narmada, MV Marvel, MV Zhuongyu, MV Klima, MV Trade Will, MV Majestic Sky, MV YM Miranda, MV Golar Kevin, MT Al Jassasiya, MT New Century and MT Grand Ace-9 currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, sunflower seeds, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely MV Medi Chiba, MV Sakzaya Miracle, MV Diyaa-B, MV Kosman, MV Kiran Caribbean, MT Black Peral-110, MT Lion-M, MT Chemroad Orsis and MT Fortune Era carrying soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, clinker, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Esthi, MV Unity Discovery and MT Black Pearl-110 carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were ten ships namely CV Prosper, CV Maersk Bentonville, CV Express Black Sea, CV Mehun, MV Saturnus, MV Fortune Era, MV Kiran Caribbean, MV Unity Discovery, MT Quetta and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers, steel coil, animal feeds, coal and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are three ships namely CV Maersk Atlanta, CV APL Charleston and CV Maersk Atlanticg containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
