Similar to majority of the social media sites, YouTube too incorporated Instagram-like Stories feature and is now expanding it to more users who have over 10,000 subscribers.
Social media sites including Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, video sharing platform YouTube rolled out its Stories feature last year and is now expanding it where it will let creators with over 10,000 subscribers to post the temporary videos on their channels from their mobile accounts, reported The Verge.
However, although the other sites’ stories last for 24 hours, YouTube Stories last for seven days on the mobile app. The stories will be available for both the channel subscribers and the non-subscribers. They will be available on the ‘Up Next’ sidebar that lists related content to play after one finishes a video.
Engadget reported, the story viewers will be allowed to react and comment on the story and the creators can publicly respond to the comments. The comments and reactions will be visible to anyone who views the story. The focus of this feature is on community engagement and channel promotion.
For creators who are eligible and wish to make a story will simply have to open the YouTube mobile app, tap the camera icon, and select ‘Create Story’. Like others, YouTube will allow creators to add text, stickers, music and more to their videos.
YouTube Stories were initially introduced last year as ‘Reels’ and received mixed reviews about the feature. At that time, only selected creators were allowed to test the feature, reported Mashable.
