06 Dec, 2017

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday welcomed the release of Justice Ali Baqar Najfi's inquiry report on Model Town incident and commended the courts for ordering the government to make it public. Giving his reaction to the report, PTI Central Punjab President Abdul Aleem Khan said that judiciary has once again proven their impartiality and refused to bow down to pressure and gave a just verdict. In the light of the report, soon the culprits and abettors will be in jail. "The courts should be praised for this," he added.
He further said that killing of innocent people during the Model Town tragedy will not go unheard and justice will be served. He further said that looters and thieves have no right to be in the government. "They cannot justify their position in the government, which uses the state weapons to take lives of innocent people and then conceal facts," he added.
According to him, just like the federal government, the Punjab government has also failed to deliver. The government should know that they will have to face the consequence of their actions. Whenever they are in power, the PML-N always strives to make the national institutions act according to their wishes. "These 'democratic dictators' are never thought of being held accountable for their misdeeds," he added.
Another PTI senior leader Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the Lahore High Court has given a landmark decision by ordering the Punjab government to make the report public. She said her party welcomes the decision serving justice to the victims of the Model Town tragedy. She accused the Punjab government of suppressing the report in order to conceal facts from the public. "Now the accused named in the report will be punished for their crimes," she added.
Dr Rashid assured the families of the victims of their full support. She lambasted the government for failing to protect the lives and property of the people and added that they only take lives of innocent people. The people at the helm of affairs have no right to rule the country and they should be behind the bars, she added.
She demanded immediate resignations of both Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and surrender to the law. PTI Secretary Information Punjab Syed Sumsam Ali Bokhari said that the court gave a historic verdict and added that soon the culprits will face justice. Time has come for the Chief Minister and his Law Minister to face the music, he added.
