Supreme Court Wednesday issued notices to National Accountability Bureau while hearing post-arrest bail application of former Information Minister Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon. A three-judge bench led by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan also issued notices to top anti-graft body in response to bail before arrest applications of Inam Akbar, owner of Midas Advertising, involved in a six billion rupees advertising corruption scam in Sindh province.
Appearing before the bench, counsel for Memon, Advocate Sardar Latif Khosa requested the apex court to set aside the Sindh High Court's decision against his client, saying instead of accepting surety bond Memon was sent to jail.
Khosa alleged that the top anti-graft watchdog has shown discrimination while inquiring into the matter, saying an accused in Sindh is used to send behind bars whereas in a similar kind of matter the NAB showed disparity to treat a case in Punjab. Inam Akbar has also filed pre-arrest bail application before the apex court upon which the bench issued notice to the NAB for first week of January 2018.
