Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 166,774 tonnes of cargo comprising 125,971 tonnes of import cargo and 40,803 tonnes of export cargo including 6,735 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 125,971 tonnes comprised of 47,209 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,173 tonnes of general cargo; 36,091 tonnes of bulk cargo: 19,779 tonnes of coal; 5,238 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 11,074 tonnes of fertilizer and 37,498 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,803 tonnes comprised of 40,303 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of general cargo and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,735 containers comprising of 2,673 containers import and 4,062 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,363 of 20's and 603 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 52 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,196 of 20's and 461 of 40's loaded containers while 504 of 20's and 720 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Sima Genesis, Athens Bridge, Tolten, Kota Nilam and Bertina carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, Tolten, Kota Nilam, Pacific Voyager, Ever Rich-1 and Industrial Eagle carrying containers, soyabean meal, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Hansa Offenburg, Ever Divine and and Industrial Eagle carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Clemens Schulte carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday. There were four vessels Wan Hai-501, Clemens Schulte, Uacc Ibn Al Haitham and Fairchem Sword carrying containers, mogas and molasses respectively due to arrive on Thursday.

A cargo volume of 127,067 tonnes comprising 67,065 tonnes of import cargo and 60,002 tonnes of export cargo including 4,651 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 67,065 tonnes includes 11,390 tonnes of palm oil; 1,900 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 9,850 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 8,893 tonnes of chemical; 6,665 tonnes of steel coil and 28,367 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 60,002 tonnes includes 60,002 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,651 containers comprising of 1,493 containers import and 3,158 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were four ships namely CV APL Hawaii, CV Northern Megnum, MV African Arrow and MV Genuine Venus carrying containers, steel coil and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two ships namely CV MSC Al-Geciras and MV Trade Will carrying containers and sunflower seeds respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Al-Geciras, CV APL Hawaii, CV Northern Megnum, MV African Arrow, MV Trade Will, MV Medi Chiba, MV Genuine Venus, MT White Purl and MT Horizon currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, sunflower seeds, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as thirteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus, MV Daje, MV Sakzaya Miracle, MV Diyaa-B, MV YM Miranda, MT Maria-III, MT Gaslog Greece, MT Quetta, MT United Banner, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Alpine Penelope, MT Bahra and MT Fortune Era carrying containers, project cargo, canola seeds, clinker, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Indus, MV YM Miranda and MT Fortune Era carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were four ships namely MV APL Maimi, CV MSC Joanna, CV APL Austria and MT Adafera carrying containers and crude oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
There are three ships namely CV Prosper, CV Uni Florida and CV Tempanos carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
