US hard red winter (HRW) wheat cash spot basis bids rose at the US Gulf on Tuesday, a day after mostly steady to lower protein premiums, grain merchants said. The track basis at the US Gulf export terminal increased by 4 cents from Monday to 239 cents above the K.C. March HRW wheat futures contract. Late-Monday's protein premiums 11.40 to 11.60 percent wheat delivered by railcar to or through Kansas City was 6 to 9 cents per bushel lower.
It was down 2 cents for 12.00 to 12.40 percent wheat protein. Other protein premium levels were unchanged. The Chicago Board of Trade K.C. March HRW wheat futures contract on Tuesday settled down 1-1/2 cents at $4.11-1/4 per bushel.
