The Anti Narcotics Force in 17 counter-narcotics strikes carried out across the country recovered 1.376 ton drugs worth Rs 1.585 billion in international market, arrested 16 persons including two women involved in drug smuggling and impounded six vehicles.
According to ANF spokesman, the recovered drugs included 1.366 ton hashish, 5.2 kgs heroin, 1.5 kgs opium and 963 grams methamphetamine. ANF Lahore recovered 750 grams heroin from a UK-bound parcel from office of a courier service company based at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. It intercepted an auto rickshaw at Shahdra, and recovered 1.2 kgs hashish.
A person resident of Sheikhupura was also apprehended. It recovered 2.4 kgs hashish by arresting two local drug peddlers both resident of Muzaffargarh. During raid, the ANF team arrested two drug peddlers in Muzaffargarh resident of Layyah and recovered 2.4 kg hashish from them. The team also intercepted a Honda City car on Main Canal Road, and recovered 2.8 kgs heroin concealed in secret cavities of the car.
Two persons one resident of Sialkot and other resident of Kurram Agency were arrested. ANF recovered one kg opium and 700 grams heroin from an accused resident of Sheikhupura. ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a car in Gilgit and recovered three kgs of hashish and arrested a person resident of Gilgit.
ANF Karachi arrested a resident of Swabi at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi and recovered 960 grams methamphetamine. ANF Quetta intercepted a Nisan truck on Mastung Road and recovered 1300 kgs hashish which was concealed in improvised cavities of the truck. ANF Quetta while acting upon a tip-off, seized an unattended car parked in the area of Satellite Town, Quetta and recovered 52 kgs hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. The drugs were intended to be handed over to another narcotics gang.
ANF Peshawar carried out six counter narcotics operations recently. It recovered five grams of heroin and 115 grams hashish from the possession of an accused resident of Swabi involved in supplying drugs to students of colleges and universities.
It recovered five grams heroin and 110 grams hashish from the possession of an accused resident of Peshawar, also involved in supply of drugs to students of different colleges and universities at Peshawar The ANF team also apprehended two women drug peddlers and recovered 500 gram opium and six kgs hashish from their possession in separate operations. All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations under CNS Act 1997 and further investigation underway.
