Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Football Association and former international footballer Basit Kamal Sunday announced a 21-member squad for the forthcoming Quaid-e-Azam Games scheduled to be held on December 25, 2017. Basit Kamal said that the association with the kind support of the Director General Sports KP Junaid Khan held two-day trials by inviting players across the province.
He said the selection committee headed by former international footballer Abdul Shakoor Aajiz with other members comprising Qazi Asif, Haji Hidayat Ullah, Niamat Ullah Marwat thoroughly monitored the performance of the players before short-listing them for the final phase of trials. He said that on Saturday last, around 110 players turned up for the trials and among them they have short-listed 40 probable for the final phase of trials. The final phase of trials of 40 players was held on Sunday and among them a total of 19 players have been selected to represent KP in the forthcoming Quaid-e-Azam Games.
The names of the selected probable comprising Javed, Saddam, Shahzad, Taimur Khan, Ubaid, Sajid, Abbas, Salman, Usman, Abdul Wahid, Janbahadar, Qazi Tahir, Maroof, Faheem, Ikram, Naveed, Shahzad, Shahid Ullah, Sheraz. Faisal Javed has been nominated as coach while Narullah Khan will act as (Manager).
