The Karachi Port handled 254,480 tonnes of cargo comprising 158,320 tonnes of import cargo and 96,160 tonnes of export cargo including 4,235 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 158,320 tonnes comprised of 71,578 tonnes of containerised cargo; 918 tonnes of general cargo; 11,828 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,285 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 4,543 tonnes of fertilizer and 73,996 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 96,160 tonnes comprised of 76,647 tonnes of containerised cargo; 453 tonnes of general cargo and 19,060 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 4,235 containers comprising of 1,963 containers import and 2,272 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 591 of 20's and 656 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 30 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 476 of 20's and 363 of 40's loaded containers while 296 of 20's and 387 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were thirteen ships namely CMA CGM Figaro, Northern Dedication, Cali, Northern Dependant, APL Austria, Songa Calabria, Prosper, Virgo, Densa Alligator, SCF Pioneer, UACC Ibn Al Haitham, Kapta Mathios and Yangtze Ambition carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, DAP and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were ten vessels viz. Talassa, Songa Calabria, Prosper, Virgo, Cosco Durban, Wiking, X-Press Kailash, Sunray, Maistros and Golden Ray carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
There were six ships namely Wiking, X-Press Kailash, Talassa, FSL London, Maistros and Golden Ray carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Monday. There were three vessels Tirua, YM Wealth and Union Trader carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Monday, while seven vessels viz. Hyundai Force, Sima Genesis, Bunga Lavender, Unique Developer, SBI Lyra, Athos and Chipolbrok Atlantic carrying containers, chemical, mogas, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
