Chicago Board of Trade soft red winter wheat futures edged higher on Friday, supported by surprising signs of overseas demand for US supplies. MGEX spring wheat also firmed, with support for the March contract seen at the 10-day moving average. MGEX gains were limited and the March spring wheat contract failed to break Thursday's high.
K.C. hard red winter wheat futures closed in negative territory. The US Agriculture Department on Friday morning said that private exporters reported the sale of 130,000 tonnes of soft red winter wheat for delivery to unknown destinations during the 2017/18 marketing year.
For the week, the most-actively traded CBOT soft red winter wheat contract fell 0.1 percent. K.C. hard red winter wheat futures posted a weekly loss of 0.2 percent and MGEX spring wheat rose 3.7 percent this week.
