Nawaz again moves SC

20 Dec, 2017

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Tuesday again invoked the apex court's jurisdiction to consider a plea seeking directives to club three references filed against him before Accountability Court Islamabad in connection with the Supreme Court's verdict in the Panama Papers case. Earlier on November 16, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing the appeal of Nawaz Sharif in his chamber against the order of registrar wherein application of Sharif for clubbing three references had been rejected, upheld the objection.
Filing an application under Supreme Court rules for reconsideration of the order of November 11, Khawaja Haris, counsel for Nawaz Sharif requested the apex court to direct the office to fix the matter for hearing before a bench. It is important to mention that Registrar's office of the apex court had rejected a civil miscellaneous application of Nawaz Sharif in the matter on the ground that Sharif had already exhausted legal remedies in the apex court.
