The Karachi Port handled 146,961 tonnes of cargo comprising 127,340 tonnes of import cargo and 19,621 tonnes of export cargo including 7,004 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 127,340 tonnes comprised of 66,214 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,574 tonnes of general cargo; 22,012 tonnes of bulk cargo: 21,600 tonnes of coal; 412 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 000 tonnes of fertilizer and 31,540 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,621 tonnes comprised of 8,406 tonnes of containerised cargo; 215 tonnes of general cargo and 11,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,004 containers comprising of 4,603 containers import and 2,401 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,639 of 20's and 1,482 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 125 of 20's and 194 of 40's loaded containers while 462 of 20's and 713 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were six ships namely Tirua, Cosco Durban, Ginga Puma, DL Violet, FS Diligence and Chipolbrok Atlantic carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. Hyundai Force, Cosco New York, Sima Genesis, BW Lithium, MT Shalamar, Carpe Diem-II, SBI Lyra, Athos and Chipolbrok Atlantic carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Hyundai Force and Carpe Diem-II carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Cosco New York carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday.
There were three vessels Sima Giselle, MT Karachi and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while six vessels viz. MOL Explorer, Hansa Offenburg, Suzuka Express, Van Cherry, Positive Pioneer and Zi Jing Song carrying containers, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
