Advisor to the Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar has said that former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema believes in idealism and always remains busy in pursuit of perfection. Haroon Akhtar said this on the occasion of launching ceremony of Cheema's book "Do Tok" here at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Thursday.
It is the second book written by Cheema. His first book "Do Tok Batein" was published in 2014. Cheema is also a columnist and currently working as Executive Director National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC). His recent book not only highlights the issues faced by the people of Pakistan but also provides solution to those problems. Civil-military relations and their impact on the country are also discussed in the book. Moreover book guides the government servants of Pakistan how they can ensure better services for the people and eradicate corruption.
In the book problems of overseas Pakistanis, as Cheema has travelled in many countries and remained in touch with the overseas Pakistanis, are also discussed. It gives strategy to take action against the criminals. Moreover, he has discussed why agriculture sector of country has been going down despite the fact Pakistan is an agricultural country.
Addressing the gathering, Akhtar said that though Cheema was a police officer, his vision is not limited to only police. "He tried to address the issues of whole country and never compromised on principles. Moreover now he, as head of NAVTTC, has been working for the betterment of the youth and preparing them for the development of the country," he said.
Former IGP Pervaiz Rathore claimed that Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan came into politics because of Cheema. "Once while I was in Gujranwala, Imran Khan had traffic accident and then he came to my house. During gossips Imran Khan said that once he visited Rahim Yar Khan during which people told him (Khan) that things were changed in Rahim Yar Khan during the tenure of Cheema," Rathore narrated.
"According to Khan, he was so impressed by hearing that one man can change things so he decided to join politics and work for the betterment of the people," he said. Senator Raja Zafarul Haq said that he read the first book of Cheema in 2014 and was so impressed that since then he has been reading all his columns.
"I have given book of Cheema to so many people as a gift. However it is most impressive that now Cheema has been working in social sector and addressing issues of the country," he said. Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehman said that because of the great service record of Cheema, the government of PML-N decided to get his services for the betterment of the country and appointed him as head of the NAVTTC.
