Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday came hard on the Registrar of Lahore High Court for lack of facilities at the newly-constructed judicial complex in Multan and directed him to shift the sessions court to old place within 10 days.
Conducting suo motu proceedings at the Lahore Registry, a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by CJP Nisar also scolded LHC Registrar Khurshid Anwar Rizvi for misleading the authorities on the issue of shifting of Multan sessions courts. "You also brought me an incorrect report last night," the CJP said while reprimanding the registrar and asked him the reason behind the haphazard shifting of the sessions courts to new complex.
The Chief Justice even snubbed the Registrar when he tried to explain the position and asked him to reply the queries of bench. "What made you shift courts to a faraway place having no basic facility," CJP Nisar asked. The bench noted that the new judicial complex lacked basic needs for lawyers and litigants like covered chambers, bar room, canteen and sitting areas. It regretted that the sessions judge Multan also misled the court on the issue.
The CJP held LHC Registrar Rizvi solely responsible for the whole blunder. The bench directed him to move the sessions courts back to previous place within 10 days and provide all the missing facilities at the new judicial complex within three months. The next day, CJP Nisar had personally visited the newly-constructed judicial complex of Multan. Representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council and many senior lawyers also joined the Chief Justice and apprised him about the problems faced by the local lawyers and litigants.
