Import of pulses slumps by 26 percent

Pakistan's pulses import bill for July-November 2017 slumped by 26 percent to $214.325 million, official figures show. The fall in pulses import comes to the tune of $74.204 million for the period from July to November 2017 from $288.529 million in July-November 2016, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics says. Import volume of pulses during July-November 2017 stands at 246,615 metric tons from 331,271 metric tons in July-November 2016, down by 26 percent or 84,656 metric tons.
Pulses import came down to $41.922 million in November 2017 from $55.264 million in November 2016, lower by 24.14 percent or $13.342 million. The country's pulses import also plunged to 45,071 metric tons in November 2017 from 68,252 metric tons in November 2016, with a fall of 34 percent or 23181 metric tons.
