The federal capital's local administration is planning to request Ministry of Interior for putting Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on Exit Control List for his alleged involvement in different criminal cases. Official sources told Business Recorder on Sunday that the administration has prepared a detailed report on cases registered against Qadri and judicial proceedings into them so far. Qadri is nominated as an accused in five cases registered with the Islamabad Police, among which three are registered under anti-terrorism clauses.
An anti-terrorism court has already ordered the local administration to confiscate property of Qadri for not appearing before the court. Permanent arrest warrants of the PAT leader have already been issued, but so far the police have made no significant efforts to arrest him. It may be pertinent to mention here that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has not obtained bail from the courts in any of the cases registered against him. Qadri faces charges of destroying property in the Red Zone, attacking the state TV's building and injuring Islamabad Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Asmatullah Junejo during the 2014 sit-in in front of the Parliament House. Violence broke out in the federal capital when PAT supporters attempted to break a police cordon and storm the Prime Minister's House, using cranes to remove barricades during the sit-in.
