Spokesman of Agriculture Department has said that department is using its all resources to motivate growers for the cultivation of Sunflower. This campaign will prove a milestone to reduce country's import bill on oilseed because Sunflower contain more than 40 percent edible oil contents and it is very useful for protecting a human against heart diseases.
What is more beneficial is that Sunflower crop matured within 110 to 130 days, the spokesman added. Government of Punjab started oilseed campaign with the aim of reduction in country's import bill regarding edible oil. Oilseed campaign started under banner of Khadam-e-Punjab Kissan Package with a Subsidy of Rs 5,000/- per acre on Sunflower cultivation (Oilseed) is being provided.
This subsidy is being provided in the form of voucher which sealed in Sunflower seed bags. After opening seal of fertilizer bag, a farmer will get a voucher. Farmer will have to send SMS voucher number along with his CNIC number to 8070 and after receiving verification SMS, he can get Rs 1000 from his nearest mobile easy paisa shop.
Rest of Rs 4000 will be received on the basis of verification SMS which he will receive at the time of harvesting. All registered farmers under Khadam-e-Punjab Kissan Package have given subsidy on cultivation of Sunflower up to 10 acres. Under this subsidy scheme per acre growth of oil seed will be increased and import bill on oilseed crop will be diminished.
