Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has reassured his support for Tahirul Qadri and his Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) for pursuing justice in the Model Town tragedy which claimed 14 precious human lives. While addressing a joint press conference with the PAT chief here on Tuesday at Minhaj Secretariat, Model Town, Khan said: "I came here today with my team to reassure leadership as well as workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek that our party and the people of Pakistan are with them."
Whatever the decision will be taken by the PAT, the PTI and its workers will fully support it, he added. Imran said the tragedy of Model Town is not the PAT's issue, it is a matter of human rights. While criticizing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, the PTI chief said he was brought to the forefront by a dictator. "He (Nawaz) is worse than a dictator as he is a mafia who tried their best to hide what they did in Model Town."
He claimed that state institutions were working for the Sharif family. The NAB saved them in Hudaibiya case while the FBR forged documents for them, he alleged. He also claimed that Punjab police worked as per orders issued by the Sharif family. The PTI chief, referring to the movement announced by the former prime minister, said he is anxiously waiting for it which, according to him, Nawaz can never start.
He further claimed that the era of Nawaz has finished but he is not realizing the same. Speaking at the press conference, the PTI Chief welcomed the support announced by Imran. Qadri said his party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have decided to broaden the mutual consultation and will sit together in All Parties Conference being convened on December 30.
Qadri said: "He has never been in a slight doubt regarding Nawaz Sharif's involvement in Model Town massacre on June 17, 2014." He said the carnage had not taken place without the consent of Nawaz Sharif. Shahbaz Sharif formally issued the order and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah was the one who executed it, he added. He further said there is no option except resignation of Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah. They should surrender them before the law soon, he demanded.
Qadri said not a single police officer who was involved in the massacre is behind the bar. Jehangir Tareen, Shafqat Mehmmood, Abdul Aleem Khan, Ijaz Ch, Mian Aslam Iqbal, former governor Punjab Ch Sarwar and Shah Mehmmod Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
